How it works

For Artists, fans and businesses

If you make music

1. Upload

Drag your tracks in, add artwork, pick up to three genres and confirm the music is yours. Tracks appear in Discover once they've been checked, which usually takes a few hours.

2. People listen

Fans find you through Discover, through genre, through what's being played near them, or because another fan shared you. Every play is recorded — what was played, how much of it, and roughly where from.

3. You find out where they are

This is the part no other streaming service gives you. Your audience page shows how many listeners you have in every town, and you can open any of them to see the age split, the gender split and which of your tracks they replay.

You never see an individual. Groups of fewer than five aren't broken down at all, because at that size a breakdown would point at one person.

Talking to your fans

You can write one message that BuzzMusic delivers to everyone following you. You don't see who received it and you never hold their details.

If a fan wants to talk to you directly, they start the conversation and you can reply. You can't start one — that choice is theirs.

4. The map

Your listening shown by place. Not a follower count — an actual picture of which towns and countries play your music, and how that changes month to month.

5. The event calculator

This reads everything above and puts it into a sentence. Not "you have 908 fans" but "play a 200-seat venue in Kristiansand on a Friday, your audience there is mostly women aged 18 to 31, open with Unstable."

It is the difference between having data and knowing what to do with it.

6. The wishlist

When the calculator tells you where to play, the directory shows you the venues, engineers, hotels and hire firms in that area. You add the ones you want to the wishlist, and one form goes to all of them at once — the ones you picked, and nobody else.

What you keep, and what you don't get

Everything you earn is yours. BuzzMusic takes no cut of your ticket, download or merchandise sales on the Pro plan. You pay for the platform, not with your music.

But BuzzMusic does not pay you for plays. There is no per-stream rate here, at all. Playback exists so people find you; the money comes from what you sell them afterwards and the gigs you book.

The listening data is not there to be interesting. It feeds the calculator, which — if you want it to — works out where to arrange a gig, when to put a release out and what merchandise is worth making, from what your own audience actually does. All of it sits in your account and nobody else's.

BuzzMusic is also for unsigned Artists only. If you are under an exclusive recording contract with a label, this is not the right home for that music.

Original music only. No covers, no samples you don't have clearance for. See the copyright page for exactly what that means and what happens if someone claims a track.

If you just want to listen

Listening is free and always will be. You need an account to follow Artists, build playlists and get messages, but not to play music.

There is no advertising on BuzzMusic. No banners, no adverts between tracks, no sponsored Artists in Discover. Nobody pays to be put in front of you.

Genres

Every genre currently uploaded to BuzzMusic. Artists can request a new one and it's usually added within a day. Tracks can carry up to three genres, so something can be both soul and rock without you having to guess which.

Discover

Three ways in. New is the most recent uploads. Most played is what's actually being listened to right now. Near you is Artists in your area, which is often the most interesting one — these are people you could go and see this month.

Buzzmail

Messages between you and Artists happen inside BuzzMusic under your username. Artists never see your email address and can't contact you outside the site.

What Artists can see about you

Nothing that identifies you. Artists see totals — how many listeners are in your town, which age groups play their tracks, which songs get replayed. You are one number inside those totals and cannot be picked out of them.

Artists can send a message to everyone following them, and BuzzMusic delivers it without telling them who you are. If you want an Artist to know who you are, message them first. That opens a conversation under your username, and only with that one Artist.

If you run a venue or service

Venues, recording studios, sound engineers, hotels, vehicle hire, session musicians, printers, photographers. If Artists need it to put on a show, it belongs in the directory.

List what you do and the areas you cover. When an Artist in your area sends a wishlist, you get the enquiry. You reply directly to them and BuzzMusic takes no commission on whatever you agree.

The Artists sending these enquiries have already worked out that their audience is in your town. They're not guessing.

What we do with your information

Short version: we use it to tell Artists where their listeners are, and we don't sell it to anyone.

Plays are recorded with a rough location — town level, not an address. That feeds the maps and the calculator. Age and gender come from what you entered at signup and are only ever shown to Artists as groups, unless you've agreed to appear on their fanbase list.
